Silver Lake State Park is sandwiched between Lake Michigan and Silver Lake, which is shrinking. Yup, you can bring your off-road vehicle and ride the dunes! Be sure to check the rules and regulations here first. Silver Lake State Park is 3,000 acres along the Lake Michigan shoreline where you can partake in swimming, sunbathing, dune rides, and off-road vehicle scramble. This festival occurs annually to honor all men and women of the United States Coast Guard. The busiest, but also enjoyable, time at Grand Haven is the Coast Guard Festival that takes place from the last full weekend in July to the first full weekend in August. There are also plenty of benches along the boardwalk to stop and watch the boats and ships (yes, massive cargo ships) pass by that are coming and going from Lake Michigan.Įvery night during the summer months, you can watch the world’s largest musical fountain performance from the boardwalk or a restaurant patio in town. Take a walk down the pier to the red lighthouse, then follow the blue railed walkway into town where you will find all kinds of shopping and food. Some of the amenities include handicap accessibility, modern bathrooms, and concessions. Being one of the largest and most popular beaches on Michigan’s West Coast, the park has a lot to offer like fishing, camping, sunbathing, swimming, windsurfing, playground, and volleyball. Grand Haven State Park is a 48-acre park of sandy beach with open views of Lake Michigan and Grand Haven pier and lighthouse.
